Craig H. Nelson
Craig is a senior partner in the firm. His practice focuses on the areas of corporate, commercial, banking, real estate, healthcare, administrative law, and estate planning. He is approved bond counsel for the Maine Health & Higher Education Facilities Authority and the Maine Municipal Bond Bank. Craig has been instrumental in organizing the Kennebec Regional Development Authority (KRDA), of which he is President. The KRDA is a regional development organization made up of twenty-four municipalities which are jointly investing in the development of FirstPark, a state-of-the-art technology based business park located in Oakland, Maine. Due to their innovative features, including the sharing of tax revenue generated by the development among the twenty-four member communities, KRDA and FirstPark are said to be the first of their kind in the country. At a National Governor's Conference, former Maine Governor Angus King presented KRDA and FirstPark as models for economic development. As a result of the national exposure that KRDA and FirstPark are receiving, and his pivotal role in their development and organization, Craig is frequently called upon to consult and lecture on economic and business development and regionalization issues. He also frequently speaks, consults, and provides planning services with respect to assisted/retirement living issues, and is a member of the National Legal Committee of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Craig was born January 18, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York, receiving a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Vermont and his law degree from the University of Maine. Prior to joining Doyle & Nelson, Craig served as Assistant Attorney General. He also served as Counsel to the Judiciary Committee of the Maine Legislature.
