Business, Corporate & Finance
Doyle & Nelson provides a full range of legal services to businesses of all sizes, from startups to large, publicly held companies. We are particularly skilled at business formations, reorganizations, sales and acquisitions, public/private debt, and equity financing.
Our clients include companies in the construction, financial, technology, healthcare, and service industries, as well as in the municipal financing arena wherein Craig Nelson is approved bond and financing counsel for the Finance Authority of Maine, the Maine Health and Higher Educational Facilities Authority, the Maine Municipal Bond Bank, and Maine State Housing Authority. Our expertise includes, but is not limited to, low income housing and historic tax credit financing.
Our attorneys also routinely provide legal and strategic planning advice to non-profit and tax-exempt organizations, including advice relating to governance and corporate formation. In addition, in an era when non-profits are increasingly active in providing services for Maine state government, we use our skills and relationships to facilitate their financial and legal dealings with state agencies. This work often includes assistance with regulatory compliance in connection with grant funding, administration, and reporting.
Dovetailing with our governmental relations practice, we also advise clients seeking to effect political change through political organizations, with expertise in the law governing Section 527 political organizations or PACs and 501(4) advocacy organizations, including permissible affiliations with other entities such as 501(c)(3) corporations. We also advise clients on campaign finance rules, election law, lobbying regulations, and government ethics requirements, as needed.
